I stepped down from my parent's car, bid them goodbye and backpacked into the Army Reserve Command, through repeated question on how to wear the load harness, its uses and if any, necessity. I tried to keep myself calm and answer them just because they're all my juniors and deserve to have the truth.

The Nine Armies War was a conflict between Siam and Burma in 1785, back in Rama I's reign. King Bodawpaya of Burma coordinated an attack heading for Bangkok using 9 armies, with total strength of 144 000 men, from both the north and south, on land and from sea. Most of the forces came through the Three-Padoga Pass, which led to Kanchanaburi.

In Siam, King Rama I the Great assembled 4 armies, three protecting each side from the assault, and one under his own command as reserves. The decisive victory was caused by the battle of Lat Ya. Siam's western army, led by Maha Sura Singhanat (Rama I's younger brother), used superior tactics, attrited the Burmese, and forced them to retreat. Other Burmese armies were then defeated by other regional armies, heroes, and heroines. Thus, Siam decisively won against the Burmese.

Then we reached the bounds of the Khao Chon Kai training camp. The opening ceremony rolls to open the training (for our group), give authority (but even more duties) to certain students. We dropped our belongings at the Battalion and continued on to Training Station #31 - the shooting range - to refresh our knowledge and skills for HK33. Then we headed back to the camp to organize ourselves into the "hierarchy" and be assigned tents.

We completed our personal needs, listened to briefings, welcomes, and traditional stuffs. It took a while, for me personally, to get familiar with this place; even though I was here a year ago. After a while we had dinner, another break, prayers, and went to sleep right away. (No shower, juniors! Be warned!)

After reaching Station 31, we assembled into groups of 60, listened to more revisions and waited at the line. The procedure itself is classified, unfortunately.

After lunch, we moved to Station 34, which was quite a variety of stations. Today we trained in the 10-part obstacle course and conducted an intelligence patrol uphills. 2 kilometers was very tiring, as there wasn't much fun in it. I had cramps at 1900 meters, due to Murphy's Law.

At top of the hill, we were told that the mortars will begin firing for the seniors' exercises. We had to get back to the camp after a brief boring lesson. All men checked in, we moved back to the camp, took a less-than-a-minute shower, a break and then to sleep.

In the afternoon, we entered afterworld, I mean, the world of our dreams. Someone started dreaming already. Uninvited guests like tiredness also came. Our company went to another substation which I essentially did nothing except taking care of problematic people. Fortunately, there wasn't one.

After the night training, we were sent to sleep. Tonight, we were allowed to remain awake longer but noise is still prohibited. Our tent had 3 persons, which talked to another 3 in another tent, and yeah, we narrowly got away. But I didn't do it though!

It was very hot, like 40 degrees Celsius. The assault teams need to soak themselves in cold water to prevent heat stroke, which can be lethal.

Unfortunately, due to menial stuffs like carrying the trash and cleaning the briefing room, I couldn't take part in the assault procedures training. I was ordered to learn by observation instead.

And finally our trainings "formally" ended when we took a shower at the HQ, dressed up (almost) for the last course. It consisted of a few lectures about defense, nationalism, and duties, and then a few karaokes. (Did I fall into the "Old Trap" anyway?)

We then came back for the last night's sleep. I couldn't, because I had to pack everything myself (I was alone, remember?) and thanks to some chit-chat people talking all around, walking all over, and evading all kinds of nighttime enforcement. The world seems to have revolved around me, but did not include me myself.

I felt moderately good that I will finally get home, after 4 days of working as platoon commander. My body wasn't engineered for it, but I managed to work through anyway. I quickly grabbed my belongings, reported to the HQ and returned the armband.

พวกเราเดินทางไปยังสถานี 34 ซึ่งเป็นสถานีสุดท้าย ฝึกโดดหอ 34 ฟุต ซึ่งข้าพเจ้า (อีกแล้ว) ก็ได้ทำหน้าที่คอยรับนักโดดลงมาด้วย กว่าข้าพเจ้าเองจะได้โดดก็นานมาก ระหว่างที่ทำงานอยู่ก็นั่งคุยยืนคุยกับคนอื่น ๆ ไปด้วย
We marched (very short march) to Station 34, regarding 34' tower jump. It's me (again) and most of my platoon who stopped and released the jumpers. After a long duty, I got to jump myself.

ตอนข้าพเจ้าขึ้นโดดนั้น ข้าพเจ้าไม่รู้สึกกลัวเลยแม้แต่น้อย เพราะข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้สนใจพื้นข้างล่าง สนใจแต่การโดดเท่านั้น เลยไม่ค่อยรู้สึกอะไรเท่าไหร่ ออกแนวบ้าพลังนิด ๆ ด้วยซ้ำ
At the time, I wasn't frightened at all. I totally ignored the height and jumped off, maybe a berserk I am.

หลังจากโดดหอเสร็จ ก็ได้เวลากินข้าวเที่ยง ทำพิธีปิด และกลับสวนเจ้าเชตุ ระหว่างทางพวกเราแอบ "อัพเกรด" มาเป็นเสนาธิการทหารกันบนรถ รวมฝูงกัน 8 คน (นั่งเล่น Advance Wars = =")
After the final jump, we had lunch, closing ceremony, and returned to Army Reserve Command (in Bangkok), "upgrading" ourselves to Commanders on the way. (8 would-be sergeants playing Advance Wars = =")
ก็คงจบแต่เพียงเท่านี้ละครับ ต้องขอโทษอย่างยิ่งที่ช้า เนื่องจากการขอรูปค่อนข้างยาก ติดสอบนั่นนี่มากมาย ทำให้งานช้ามากครับ ก็ต้องขออภัยจริง ๆ
So it might just end here. I'm very sorry for being late posting this, because it took quite some time to get all pictures together, have exams and other works to do. Sorry again.
